Arthur Miller

Arthur Zayas Miller, President/CEO

From a young age, Arthur had a deep appreciation for hard work, community and family. He was raised by his tenacious mother on Chicago’s South Side and accredits her for much of his success.

After proudly serving in the US Army and rising through the ranks at UPS and ADP, Arthur followed his passion for construction and started MZI Group, Inc. in 1999.

Arthur believes success is firmly rooted in his community and the people he surrounds himself with. He takes his role as CEO/President very seriously knowing he is responsible for his employees and their families.

He is actively involved with US Army veteran organizations such as Helmet to Hardhats and the Wounded Warrior Project. He shares his time as a distinguished board member of the National Latino Education Institute. In addition, he is a member of Chicago United, Hispanic American Construction Industry Association, Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and National Association of Veteran Owned Businesses.

When Arthur is not working (which is rare) one might catch him on the golf course or enjoying family time with his beloved wife and daughter.

Vito Loisi

Vito Loisi, CFO

Vito Loisi attended the University of Ilinois and studied accounting before earning his Master’s Degree in Taxation from DePaul University. He began his career at the prestigious Ernst & Young as an auditor moving up to Tax Supervisor. Next, Vito went to The Marmon Group as a Tax Manager, then became partner at BKD (formerly Wolf & Company) where he played an integral role in the Construction and Real Estate Group. Recently Vito joined the MZI team in the role of Chief Financial Officer and is delighted to be a part of MZI’s remarkable growth. Motivated by assisting business owners and helping organizations to succeed, his favorite quote is, “You have to keep moving or, like a shark, you will die.” MZI is equally excited to leverage Vito’s experience and expertise. When Vito is not working, he challenges himself on the golf course. Vito draws inspiration from the diversity, creativity and energy that only the Windy City offers.

Morley Rushford

Morley Rushford, Executive Vice President

Morley came to MZI in June of 2018 to initiate company diversity into the telecommunications field. As a 19-year communications technician with the IBEW he has worked on multiple projects across all carriers and technology updates during that time. Morley has held previous roles from field technician thru VP of wireless construction prior to coming to MZI.

When he is not working, Morley enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, coaching youth basketball, travelling and playing golf. His favorite part of Chicago is the diverse entertainment scene.

Kim Nelson

Kim Nelson, Vice President of Business Development

Kim has worked for MZI since 2008 and has always admired what a family-driven business it is. Her experience comes from the transportation industry. She graduated from Northern Illinois University with a degree in Organizational Corporate Communications. As the Vice President of Business Development at MZI, Kim works at capturing the right business markets while continuing to develop new business relationships, focus on future work, and maintain current customer base. In her free time, Kim is a Board Member of Women Energy Network. Philanthropy has always been her passion and she works closely with The Foundation for Prader Willi in efforts to support research for a cure. She is married with two children and enjoys golf whenever she can fit it in her busy schedule. Kim’s counts the parks and local restaurants as her favorite part of Chicago.

Josh Freed

Joshua A. Freed, CSP

Josh is an Iowa State University graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Safety & Health with a focus on safety engineering. He is also a Safety Academy graduate from Clemson Universities College of Architecture Arts and Humanities. Josh actively advocates for continuing education in industry leading research and standards.

Josh comes to MZI with over 17 years of experience in occupational safety and health. He began his career as the Safety Director for a company specializing in the construction and maintenance of electrical, telecommunications and oil and gas pipeline infrastructure. Josh worked as a construction and manufacturing consultant on a corporate safety program and led a team of safety inspectors to a successful completion of a five-year, multi-state, crude oil and refined products pipeline infrastructure project. Immediately, before hiring on with MZI, Josh was employed as a Safety Coordinator under the direction of the Army Corps of Engineers over electrical, telecommunications, plumbing and mechanical contractors on a national disaster project.

He is a devoted husband and dad to two young sons. “I couldn’t be happier to be working in my hometown and for a company dedicated to the well-being of our employees and the community we serve.”

Bob Howaniec

Bob Howaniec, VP Building Services

Bob has been in the general/electrical business for more than 20 years. He began his career as an IBEW electrician, and has been working with MZI since 2010. He is responsible for managing employees, overseeing all projects and business development. Bob loves to golf and run. He is married with four children, and enjoys time spent with family, especially as a volunteer coach for his kids’ baseball and basketball teams. Bob’s favorite thing about Chicago—the skyline!

Mike Media

Mike Medina, VP Utility

Mike has more than 36 years of experience in managing, operating, construction planning and scheduling experience. Prior to joining MZI in 2014, he held many positions at ComEd; Chicago Field Operations Manager, Interim Chicago Field Operations Manager, Superintendent of the Network & High-Rise Group, Underground Emergent Work Manager, Emergent Work Supervisor, Principle Specialist Work Scheduler and Planner, Field Design Supervisor and various bargaining unit Underground Construction Positions. After 35 years with ComEd, Mike accepted the position of Vice President of Utility Work with MZI due to the fact that they were an up and coming utility contractor with a diverse background.

Mike served our country in the United States Marines. A dedicated family man, friend and co-worker, Mike offers strong support to all and has a love for people. His favorite thing about Chicago—the food!

Raul Romero

Raul Romero, Vice President of Mechanical

Raul joined MZI Group in October of 2018 to as the Vice President of MZI’s Mechanical Division. Raul comes with over 20 years’ experience in the Mechanical Contracting business. Raul has held various positions in the mechanical contracting world that range from Sales representative to Vice President positions. Raul has a Bachelors in Business from Loyola University. In Raul’s free time he enjoys going on vacation and golfing.

Sean Taylor

Sean Taylor, Vice President, Plumbing

Sean Taylor is the Vice President of the Plumbing division at MZI Group. Sean comes with over 25 years of experience. Before joining the MZI team he ran his own commercial and residential plumbing company. He started his career with Local 130 where he rose quickly through the ranks and became foreman of large projects. He has held licenses with IDPH and the City of Chicago for the last 14 years. He is certified in CCCDI Backflow Management.

Sean is married with two boys. He enjoys being outdoors and fishing. When Sean is not at work he is spending time with his family. He has lived in the Chicagoland area his whole life.

Frank Cundari

Frank Cundari, Director of Finance and Operations

Frank has been working at MZI since the start of 2015 as a project manager, he graduated from St. Mary’s University of MN with a degree in accounting. As the Director of Finance and Operations at MZI, Frank oversees the day-to-day operations and manages financial responsibilities. Frank has a background in accounting, construction management, and has driven high performing projects throughout MZI’s power and utility division.

In Frank’s free time, Frank enjoys going to concerts in the city . His favorite thing about Chicago is the restaurants.

Igor Kutlic

Igor Kutlic, Superintendent

Igor attended electrical school in Zagreb, Croatia and completed his college education in Belgrade, Serbia. Upon moving to the United States, Igor attended the IBEW union school in Chicago to further his studies. Igor is certified in project management and is currently working towards his electrical inspector certification.

Igor’s main roles at MZI are project managing, estimating, and superintendent. He is an active member of the Illinois DNR, Illinois NRA and Serbian club, "Krajisko Prelo."

Igor is very motivated by his family and loves to be productive and involved in any process that involves critical thinking. In his free time, he enjoys activities with his children such as soccer, music lessons, dance and basketball. He also enjoys boating and winter sports. For Igor, Chicago means Lake Michigan, the skyline, museums and sports stadiums.

Robert Stewart

Ray Coggins, Regional Program Director - Telecommunications Group

Ray is a highly focused professional experienced in large-scale project planning, management, operations and sales. He started his wireless career in the field and has held multiple management positions most recently as Vice President & Regional Director of Operations before joining MZI Group. His expertise ranges from large-scale project planning, to execution in operations, installation and implementation. As a seasoned leader in the industry, Ray has successfully led multi-million dollar projects. With over 20 years of experience in Telecommunications/Wireless Engineering & Construction, Ray joins MZI Group as a Regional Program Director for our Telecom Group.

Robert Stewart

Robert Stewart, Safety Manager

Robert attended Joliet Junior College and began his career at ComEd. He has held various roles in the safety industry from advisor to auditor. Upon seeing the growth and success at MZI, he joined forces as Safety Manager. Safety is more than a title to Robert. From studying fire science in college to becoming a firefighter, Robert truly lives safety. Robert’s main roles at MZI are to monitor and enforce all company safety policies and procedures, provide technical advice to field and office personnel, as well as serve as a resource to project teams. He works with the VP/Superintendent and project management to address specific project safety needs and aids with the investigation of any accident or incident. He conducts weekly jobsite inspections and maintains all required job safety records including all jobsite safety audits.

In his free time, Robert enjoys family time, riding his bike and traveling out West to hike. He is a Licensed Illinois Emergency Medical Technician and Certified Level 3 Illinois Fire Fighter. The hustle and bustle of the City and the people are what Robert loves most about Chicago.

Michael Craven

Michael Craven, Manager, Construction Projects/Training/Utility Systems

Michael Craven brings more than 36 years of experience in the electric power and transmission distribution industry to MZI Group, where he currently serves as the Manager of Construction Projects, Training and Utility Systems. Motivated by problem-solving and new experiences, Michael is responsible for the oversight of construction and maintenance crews. Over the years, Michael has held several positions working in the construction services field including ComEd Substation Instructor, Field Supervisor and Senior Methods Specialist. In these positions he has managed major capital improvement projects for the electrical utility system and carried out quality control over various types of building construction and contractors. His background also includes welding (TIG, MIG, Structure and High Pressure) and splicing on 12kV cables. His path led him to MZI by way of connections made while networking with colleagues. Michael thoroughly enjoys his work at MZI. He has the opportunity to collaborate with people that he holds as close as he does his own family and also takes pride in the growth he has seen in himself and his co-workers. Michael is a family man who is inspired by rebuilding antique cars in his spare time. When asked his favorite thing about the Windy City, he couldn’t pick just one! He narrowed it down to the FOOD, downtown, and of course, the White Sox.
